Brother
Wednesday. Awoke at five-thirty. Too early, but turned the radio on (down low) and whiled away the time until I was ready to set out to breakfast on another quite cool overcast morning, choosing to wear the ‘light weight’ winter jacket for the first time. Best that I did.
Arrived by seven, the restaurant open, and so into the papers, ordering the avocado and cheese omelet, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, finishing fairly early before eight-thirty to walk home under the same overcast sky taking but two pictures on the way.
Due to get a Protime blood thinner test today and I'm interested in the result as I've been taking an extra half dose of the blood thinner every week now since the last time it was taken. But first maybe lie down and listen to the last half of Democracy Now! I'd missed this morning.
Later. Up and out the door at ten-thirty to catch the bus to Broadway and walk to the lab for the Protime test. I usually arrange to arrive at one when they reopen after lunch, but for some reason felt a need to get out the door and not delay. Always feel better once I'm out the door.
Took pictures along the way of the various apartment house construction sites at Valdez and Webster, then 27th and Broadway, then of the large site opposite the hospital. How long have they been working on these?
Ended up waiting for thirty minutes for the people ahead of me to clear and have the blood drawn, which by itself takes about five minutes, to then have lunch outside at a table at the building café before walking along Broadway back to Grand. One or two more pictures to end up arriving at the stop with what turned out to be but a minute to spare. OK, home at a quarter past twelve, the task of the day done.
And that's it?
This morning, after breakfast, I was lying on the bed when I realized it was September 26th. September 26th. My sister's birthday is on the 25th. How do you forget something like that? I've always at least gotten a card out to arrive on time. Bad brother.
