Here In Oakland

Art & Life

March 26, 2018

Thereafter

Monday. Slipped into sleep easily last night to awaken at six and take my time getting ready to walk to breakfast on what looks to be a relatively cool, but sunny morning, the start, the weather people are saying, to a week and more of sunny weather ahead, some days getting up into the low seventies. The eyes watered as I walked, but so what? A good week is underway. Hey.

I'd thought about the Eggs Benedict I'd had for breakfast yesterday and the almost ocular incident that followed that caused me to abandon photographing the Oakland Marathon and wondered if that breakfast had been the problem. Hadn't really eaten or done anything else I could blame it on and so had the oatmeal, toast, fruit cup and coffee this morning. We'll see how we feel later, but right now feeling just fine, thank you.

The usual pictures walking home, having set the camera to f 16 rather than f 8, to see if the photographs were any sharper. They weren't. I was thinking they were even less sharp and so maybe I'll get my ass in gear and look at the manual again. But later.

Took a picture of this scooter because it had been sitting there leaning against the same tree since yesterday morning. What in the hell was it? Looked it up on the web to discover it, like the Ford Go-Bikes, is a rental you can locate and activate with a mobile app, use and then just leave it anywhere you may like when you're finished. Hmm. I wonder if we'll see more of these?

Later. I mentioned I'd looked at some length for my copy of the Autobiography of a Brown Buffalo last night and couldn't find it. This morning, in the sunlight, I found it sitting exactly where you'd expect it would be sitting in the author's “a” section in the living room book cases. How had I missed it last night? Right there in plain sight?

A walk to the 7-11 look-alike to pick up more chipotle peanuts and then return to the apartment, noting the lake seemed to have quite a few more birds on it than I've seen recently. Migrations underway? I almost returned with a long lens on the camera, but put it the idea aside. Not sure why. We'll look again tomorrow.

Evening. Not a bad day, although I ended up watching a Father Brown episode I've seen before. Remembered some of it. Why do I admit to these things in public? To bed soon thereafter.

March For Our Lives Saturday in Oakland taken with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
