Here In Oakland

Art & Life

June 7, 2017

Information

Wednesday. Well, lights out early enough, but awakening at six-fifteen, somewhat later than I usually do, but a better time if only for the fact the East Bay Times had arrived when I set out. Overcast, but they're saying sun later, some chance of showers tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise a not unusual Oakland June day the weather people are saying, although I can no longer really remember what a usual June day should look like here in Oakland. Or for anywhere else I've lived for that matter.

An avocado and cheese omelet, country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, taking my time over the papers. An interesting couple of days starting today on the political front, I'm considering staying home and listening to the Comey questioning on KPFA tomorrow morning and going to breakfast later. Except I won't. Probably won't.

Nothing exciting on the walk home, a little depressing in reading whomever it was who wrote yesterday's entry, but otherwise the start of a good day. I'd say.

Later. A walk over to the burger drive-in thinking maybe a turkey sandwich to discover the drive-in was closed. Hmm. On then to the 7-11 look-alike for an ice cream bar, eating it on the way home. And that's been our adventure for the day.

News programs murmuring in the background, listening to the PBS News Hour while taking a bath. The Law & Order episodes they've been running today are all episodes I've seen before and they didn't hold my interest. My problem, not their's. Overcast again after the sun had appeared earlier, hoping the showers/rain they've been forecasting doesn't arrive until well after breakfast tomorrow.

Evening. Checked the Warriors game online at the SFGate web site, remembering it had started at six, to see the Warriors behind by ten or so points, so continued to check the scores through the evening. Exciting game for just checking postings, particularly the last literally couple of minutes when they went ahead. Oddly satisfying and exciting for so meager a source of information.

The photo up top was taken at the 2013 San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
