Again

Sunday. Somewhat tired last night and so to bed and lights out after nine to awaken then at six-thirty, a good target time to adjust to for the future with the morning restaurant opening somewhat later in the mornings. A drive to breakfast to arrive at seven-oh-five, the restaurant dark, the waitresses arriving five minutes later. Nice morning, though, no great hardship to wait in the car.

Had the French toast with sliced bananas and strawberries and coffee for breakfast to then take my time with the papers, more interesting stories than the time available to read them in just the main sections of interest to me. Then again, isn't this true for everyone?

You're not very good with real estate, style, food or the arts for starters. I suspect they're of interest to others.

I'd blame most of it on age and crusty behavior, although I did pay more attention to entertainment and the arts when I was younger.

The usual cross the street to document the increase in the price of regular by another six cents a gallon, noting again how many hold out against the overnight cold, the usual pandorea bud picture (the cold does indeed shut them down from flowering is my thinking) before driving back to the apartment.

There's a Black Joy Parade later this morning terminating on Broadway not far from Grand and so it's more pictures today. Let's see if this “dread” thing has more or less to say on a local event than it did yesterday when traveling to San Francisco was involved.

Later. A bus with a single long lens camera in the backpack to 20th Street and the Black Joy Parade area some thirty minutes before the parade itself was scheduled to arrive, a light crowd present as the bands on the various stages were finishing their setups and so a walk to a café at the corner of Grand to have a bagel with cream cheese and coffee to wait on the parade to arrive.

Did I want to wait and photograph this thing? Liked some of the messages on t-shirts, “The black woman is god.” sported by a number of older African American women. Well, why not? Still, plenty to do processing pictures at home, did I want to stay?

Turns out I didn't and so walked home. Chickened out? Didn't feel like it. I did get there, I did look it over, staying would have been in some sense easier than walking home. Maybe we'll never know.

Continued processing the Chinese New Year Parade photographs. Seems I have enough for two sections, maybe more. Surprised myself a little after I'd counted and then recounted them.

Evening. Watched an episode of Elementary while processing pictures. They're saying it may well start raining tonight and last through tomorrow morning, so maybe we'll end up driving to breakfast again.
