Good

Saturday. To bed and lights out just after ten to awaken once or twice during the night, but awakening then for good at six-fifteen to get up and out the door by quarter to seven, somewhat later than usual, but I'd been warned they were planning on opening later from now on in the mornings. Which is good, probably better to be walking when it's lighter.

Anyway, they were open, but just barely when I arrived, and so had the avocado and cheese omelet, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast. Still those two pounds over, but a tenth of a pound lighter than the morning before.

Cold walking, the usual watering eyes walking in, but bright sun at least on the way home, taking the usual set of pictures. The Lunar New Year Parade in San Francisco later this afternoon. I'll go, but I'm having the usual should I/shouldn't I conversation. Two cameras? This conversation will unfortunately continue until I get out, if I get out, the door.

Later. Packed the two cameras in the larger backpack as the time approached to set out for San Francisco, decided I'd be better off with but one and so repacked the long lens camera into the smaller backpack. Feelings of dread at the idea of going grew stronger and so took it in steps. Put on the jacket, pull on the backpack, we'll head out the front door and see how that feels. Sunny and somewhat cold, but not bad. OK, a walk down the street to overlook the lake. So far, so good. On to the bus stop to stand waiting, thinking did I want to return to the apartment? Felt better, but continued questioning until the bus pulled up and I was on board.

Arrived at the Embarcadero station just after four, pulled out the camera and walked the line up and down Market for over an hour, taking what pictures I could find. Not bad, but tired after that hour and a quarter, and so got back on BART and headed home. Seems like a lot of anticipatory dread to suffer through to then set out feeling better and run around to take pictures without too much trouble. Getting any easier? Not sure it is. But maybe.

You do go on and on.

It's gotten my attention.

Evening. Futzed around processing pictures into the evening, checked out Picnic, the Saturday night movie on PBS, this one starring William Holden and Kim Novak, to find it managed to hold my attention for all of five minutes (an early Kim Novak, though, with longer hair and not immediately recognizable). More photographs to take over on Broadway tomorrow, more photographs to process for the web. Feels a little hectic after all this recent down time, but then too, it feels pretty good.
