It Happened

Tuesday. To bed early enough with lights out at about the usual time to sleep straight through (but for one short awakening to take a leak) until six. I'm thinking a good to better night's rest. Felt that way, anyway, once the brain had started functioning and I'd headed out the door on this overcast morning. With the large D4 in tow. No more ducking the proposition: we either carry a camera or we don't.

One hopes more sensibly.

One hopes, but then one isn't always sharp and aware of one's surroundings. He said.

A photograph of the pandorea vine. The 135mm lens doesn't focus in close, but a decent photograph before an uneventful walk home. Feel good, even with the sinuses and upper gums acting up a bit. Not painful, but some level below that threshold. There, in other words, but not something you can't ultimately just forget and get on with it.

Is that really a problem?

It's just there. Many others have issues that really matter, just, you know, my usual banter. The day has started well.

Later. After doing the usual morning futzing around with the web sites and such, a walk to the Lakeshore ATM, debating what camera to take. Settled on the much older D2Xs. If they grab it I'm still in the photography business. Made for a slightly paranoid but comfortable enough walk with a picture at the lake and then another returning by the apartment construction site. Neither particularly good in any real sense, but good enough as snapshots.

As opposed to photographs.

Well, you know. We make it up as we go along. Two scoops in a cup at the yogurt shop to celebrate on the way back and the mood is better.

Later still. Another section put together and posted to the apartment house construction site. One section is enough. I knew when I started that if I tried to put together more than one I wouldn't finish. So good. Maybe a section a day will be possible and then we'll catch up in another couple of weeks. Or so. Maybe.

The car battery charger and “starter” arrived from Amazon (where else?) and so we'll start charging the drained car battery tomorrow. Let us hope they work as advertised.

Evening. Nothing on television and so to bed and the tablet to have the tablet lose connection with the Internet again. This has been happening now for the last couple of weeks and so I finally figured out that I should get up and look at the wireless unit I keep up on top of the book case by the computer. It was on the floor beside the bookcase. The earthquake. I hadn't noticed. More than just those few cards and such had fallen to the floor that day when it happened.

The photo up top was taken setting out for home this morning after breakfast with a Nikon D4 mounted with a 135mm f 2.0 DC Nikkor lens.
