Late this morning futzing with the camera.

Think About
Tuesday. Feeling better this morning, although it's overcast. Not too cool, a light jacket over a t-shirt, walking rather than driving to breakfast, reading the paper, walking back watching people pass after having read about Oakland's lack of a large enough police force and the current surplus of street - house - store bandits who, according to the paper, are holding up all sorts of people right out in the middle of the street (and frightening the horses). I've carried a camera in Oakland now for ten years, always with the understanding I needed to watch my surroundings. Never a problem, but there never is a problem until of course there is a problem. Well, life is a crap shoot, I suppose, from what little I know about it. Another sake, please, and lock the apartment.

So, today we make some appointments I've been putting off and finish up some work around here at the apartment. Start some work I've been putting off around here at the apartment. Do whatever else I've had on my mind. Around here at the apartment.

Later. Well, yes. Didn't make it to Harrington's for lunch in San Francisco as the invite came late this morning as I was futzing around taking self portraits. Haven't done that for some time and looking at the last time I did a series, well, I seem to have gotten older and heavier and I've had to shoot a bunch just now to find one or two that give me a proper public mask. Of course the idea of self portraiture is to puncture the public mask, get a glimpse of what's underneath. I'm thinking more exercise and less sake before I continue with this (next year), but I also know I'll continue and take more, but with scarves, sun glasses and hats. Lots of hats. Take more and take my medicine. You take medicine to make you feel better, right? Get the head on straight, see the world as it is (as this will straighten you out). Right. They say a lot of shit, don't they, much of which I'm prone to repeat.

Your mood seems better.

Doesn't it? I just got a call from Mr. E at Harrington's (they're finishing up after the prime rib with cheese cake) saying they'd decided on a road trip to Yosemite and Mammoth Lake instead of the east coast and the Civil War relics. That sounds better to me. Something to think about.

The photograph was taken this morning at the apartment with a Nikon D2X mounted with a 17 - 55mm f 2.8 Nikkor lens and two fluorescent studio lights at 1/125th second, f 2.8, ISO 100.
