Never Ending

Monday. To bed early and to sleep early, earlier than usual, anyway, to awaken again at six-thirty, get up and head out to breakfast. The sun, as it was yesterday, just starting to rise over the horizon. Still, walking to breakfast, the clouds moving in from the ocean looked darker and more menacing than they had yesterday and the thought occurred maybe I should have worn rain gear.

And I should have worn rain gear. It started raining as I was eating breakfast, really raining, “get wet in a minute” raining, and so decided to take the bus home, taking but one picture while waiting under an awning. Still raining sitting here now. Dark out there. We need a bunch more of these through the winter, but I would have felt better about missing the Fruitvale Dia de los Muertos festival if this had been yesterday's weather. “Tired” still seems lame.

And the “tiredness” of these last two days? Has it gone? Feels as if it has, but we'll get further into the morning before we decide. So far, so good, though. I'd say. Awake. Babbling.

Later. A break in the rain, but raining again now that it's noon. Good to have the rain, better for the fact the tiredness is gone. At least it seems to be gone. Odd, though. I'm wondering if I had similar aftereffects the last time I had this particular vaccine? The summary sheet I received at the appointment says I'd had one last in 2009. Six years? Seems to me to have been more recent. Elastic time.

Later still. It looked as if the rain had finally stopped - overcast, yes, but not looking as it had - and so a walk to the ATM on Lakeshore thinking I was hungry, maybe pick something up for lunch. Walked to the ATM bundled in winter coat, scarf and rain hat feeling what I thought to be good, stopping at KFC to pick up a two piece meal on the way home. When's the last time I'd been to a KFC? Having chicken was the debate, no problem with the mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. It started to rain again as I got home.

Ate the meal - not bad - and then went into the bedroom to lie down. Not “tired”, you understand, but a long walk on a dark day that turned to rain so I was somewhat surprised when I awoke having slept for over an hour. The other kind of tired, sleep tired? Right?

You keep saying that.

Evening. They say clear tomorrow and through next Monday when another storm is due to arrive. OK. It's been cold today, down in the fifties and mid-forties and I've had the heat running through the morning and into the afternoon. Feels colder than the numbers indicate, spoiled perhaps after this never ending sun.

The photo up top was taken at the Dias de los Muertos celebration at the Oakland Museum of California with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
