Decisions
Sunday. Awoke at five-thirty, too early, the shoulders and chest aching from sleeping awkwardly on my side. This has been happening as often as not now for well over two years. Fine, listen to Counterspin at six and then TUC Radio at six-thirty on KALW as the shoulders and chest loosened up, then waiting until seven-thirty to get up and drive to the gas station to fill the tank before parking in front of the restaurant, having noticed the little dashboard warning light was a solid red yesterday when returning from breakfast indicating I was almost out of gas. Anyway, that was my excuse for driving. Entered the dark blocked off dining area, turned on the lights and settled in with the papers.
The Eggs Benedict, country potatoes, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, just because that's what appealed. Overcast driving in, still overcast when I finished well after nine to drive home and park, no sign of the workmen this time, but running into the apartment house manager who took me outside and explained what they were going to start working on my side of the building and how it would be more difficult to enter the garage. OK, a picture, back to the lobby to take the selfie and then up to the apartment to finish yesterday's entry and on this.
Later. There's been a long line of cars, motorcycles and such driving by down at the lake at various times honking horns and I'm assuming it's a George Floyd protest. Hasn't managed to get me out of the apartment as it would have passed on by the time I arrived, but protests are obviously still underway here in Oakland.
Let's see: watched a new episode of a series I've been following that was released last Friday, took a bath and actually listened to some music starting on YouTube, but then going to the stereo. Started with Puccini, but then moved on after an hour or so to late sixties, early seventies rock and roll. More listening than I've done in quite some time.
Still the sound of car horns in the distance now and again. Whoever they are, they've been keeping at it now for hours.
Evening. Nothing I wanted to watch on television, had had enough of Britbox and the tablet and so to bed, lights out just after ten, but then seemingly taking forever to drop off to sleep. Who knows why? The body has its own itinerary and doesn't seem to consult me in these decisions.
