Survive

Sunday. Lights out well before ten to awaken at ten minutes to six after a good night's rest. Seems to be right, to bed before ten, maybe nine-thirty, awake without the alarm just before six, the body and mind happy. So far anyway.

A drive to breakfast to arrive at ten minutes to seven, the dining area door unlocked and so inside to turn on the lights and settle in with the Sunday papers. Ordered the avocado omelet, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast after toying with the idea of ordering their Eggs Benedict, but decided, since I might actually head out to photograph the How Weird Street Faire later this afternoon, maybe not gamble with something that has caused ocular kick backs in the past.

Finished up by nine and so photographed the bump in gas prices as well as the sidewalk on the way to the car, drove home, remembering to take the selfie in the lobby on the way upstairs to edit and post yesterday's entry. Feel pretty good. Let's see if I'm still saying that when it comes time to set out for San Francisco and How Weird.

Later. A twelve-twenty bus to BART, BART to Montgomery Street and a walk to 2nd and Howard to enter the How Weird Street Faire that was up and running to loud music coming from the first stage. Felt pretty good, the sinus-upper palate letting me know it was there, but otherwise nothing else too aggressive. The head clear and photos ahead.

I'd opted to bring the D500 with the 24-120mm f 4.0 lens instead of the D5 with the much larger 70-200mm f2.8 for the D500's lighter weight, but I suspect that was a mistake. We'll not do that in the future.

An hour of shooting and then back to BART and to the bus and home. Only a hundred pictures, many fewer than I've shot at this event in the past, but a section, at least, maybe two. Feel good, not particularly physically tired, although took another dose of the pain med when I got home. An ambitious outing.

Evening. Going through the pictures I discover they're far from the best I've done, but there are enough decent ones for a web section. Still, not unhappy with the results from the trip to San Francisco. We did, after all, survive.

The photo up top was taken yesterday at the Cinco de Mayo festival at Jack London Square with a Nikon D500 mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 VR Nikkor lens.
