Last Century

Monday. To bed again at a decent hour, awake at quarter to six, fifteen minutes too early, but awake none the less. Up to get ready to walk to breakfast, some grumpiness about the whole idea, but nothing over the top and so out the door we go on a scattered clouds with the sun (and moon) shining through them morning. A Monday, here in the black mountain hills of Oakland. In other words.

Need to get another blood thinner Protime test later this morning at the lab and that's about it for errands for the day, other than another visit to an ATM. Good way to get in our walking. We'll do this rah! rah! get in our walking stuff through the whole week ahead with the Carnaval Parade coming up this Sunday. A bit more physically taxing, shooting the Carnaval Parade, than it is with others.

Later. A ten-thirty bus to Broadway and then a walk to the lab for the Protime test, waiting for thirty minutes before having it done. Maybe think about securing an appointment next time, the one person who'd done so in the group made it through in better time.

A bus to the ATM on Broadway and then a walk to the City Center for a buttered bagel, fruit cup and a can of V-8 juice, sitting out in the sun at one of their tables before leaving and shooting more pictures of the Broadway repaving still underway at Latham Square. I'd taken a couple of photographs on the way to the Center, but there's been no real progress in the Square itself, other than on the street, since Friday.

And then a bus home to download the pictures and take a shot at a nap. A decent set of walks so far, but I'm clearly in need of more stamina for something like the Carnaval Parade coming up. So what the hell? Why not just do it? Walk? Meanwhile the nap and maybe a second dose of pain meds. The sinuses and upper palate have been misbehaving.

Later still. Did lie down, maybe a few minutes of it was sleep, but a nice hour or so before getting up to listen to the news and work on today's photographs. Not so many today and so it didn't take too much time, more just start, get up to speed and you're done. Might look at putting together another Latham Square section, but later today or more probably tomorrow. Tomorrow sounds better.

Evening. Watched Democracy Now while futzing along on the guitar. Interesting program on the nation's dysfunctional whistleblower system. You blow the whistle, you lose your career/freedom/safety, this from the former long time head of the Pentagon whistleblower program.

Nothing on television, but more magazines arrived today that I started reading earlier this afternoon and I might, just might, continue the reading in bed. This evening. Set a new record. Reading, after all. Printed pages. So last century.

Stop, please.

The photo up top was taken Saturday at the San Francisco Asian Heritage Street Celebration with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
