Art & Life

December 4, 2015

Friday. We're in no better condition this morning than we were yesterday morning, worse considering the cleanup required after last night. Well, enough of that. Awake and up at six-thirty, driving off to the ATM and then to breakfast by seven, home now to finish and post yesterday's entry. A haircut scheduled for eleven and so a bus to the haircut and then to photograph Latham Square and pick up another prescription refill when we're done. Feel OK, looking forward to it as long as the alimentary canal continues to behave.

Later. It was raining last night, not sure how much, but not a lot, but sun though the day from the look of it, but also cold, needing sweater and winter coat heading out at ten for Latham Square, figuring I'd take care of the photographs and pick up the prescription refill before the haircut rather than after.

Got the pictures, didn't keel over in the stairwell before or after taking pictures from the stairwell window and discovered, when picking up the prescription refill, the colonoscopy people had forwarded a prescription for the large plastic container and the goop you mix with water and drink before arriving at the exam. OK, life goes on, I remember the stuff, if not fondly, then well.

Arrived for the haircut early enough that it was over and done with a good fifteen minutes before the bus was due to arrive and so a donut and coffee outside at a table at the bagel shop in the City Center to wait on its arrival. Been a while since I've done that. Had the camera in the backpack or else I'd have taken a picture of the City Center Christmas tree. Another day.

The bus to the apartment house construction site to take pictures, they're taking down the exterior scaffolding and the thing is starting to look as if they're closer to completion. The last time I talked with the construction foreman (and it has been some time) he said he hoped to have it completed by the end of this month. Maybe so.

Evening. Checked the web again on the Oakland Holiday Parade I've been thinking I was going to photograph tomorrow and discovered there is no Oakland Holiday Parade tomorrow. How had I gotten that wrong? Wrote it down on the kitchen calendar some time back after checking on the web. A little weird. I see the web site that confused me, what it was that led me astray, but still. Too bad. Was looking forward to pictures.

Nothing I wanted to watch on television, the PBS stations are in the middle of another fund raising drive (they do seem to run a whole lot of these things, do they not?), so to bed to find something to watch on the tablet. The stomach is a bit queasy, the alimentary canal isn't as settled as I'd like it to be and so, I guess, we're in for another problematic night.

The photo up top was taken at the The 2013 Oakland Holiday Parade with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
