Under Construction

San Francisco Carnaval Parade

September 1st, 2006

Maybe I Don't
Friday. Art and Soul starts tomorrow in downtown Oakland. They were putting up stages and blocking off streets near my office building today preparing for what will be a pay to enter rabbit warren of connected streets, sidewalks and open plazas filled with music, people selling food, beverages and gimcracks; restaurants serving solutions to what ails you and at least one amateur photographer looking for pictures. I've not had great luck at these things, but that's my problem in not being aggressive enough or creative enough with a camera. That and I'm lazy.

Tired today, suprisingly so, and I left early to go home and take a nap. What the hell. With Art and Soul happening next to my building for the next three days I'll finish what I needed to finish at the office today over the coming weekend. An hour's shooting, an hour at the desk or maybe two hours shooting followed by lunch with a couple of glasses of wine and then, well, maybe not back to the desk. Rationalization is useful if you don't lie to yourself when using it. Maybe I will, maybe I won't; maybe I do, maybe I don't.

The evening progresses.

The photograph was taken at the San Francisco Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D2x mounted with a 70-200mm 2.8 VR Nikkor lens at 1/750th, f 2.8, ISO 100.
