Usual

Thursday To sleep not long after ten to awaken at six, the chest just fine, and so got up to check the air quality in the area on the computer and to find it listed as Unhealthy for Some, me being one of the some. OK, how bad can it be? Off to walk to breakfast under heavily skies, but masked people about, the breathing easy and no smoke I could detect in the air. Arrived at the usual time and settled in with the papers. So far, so good, although the sun was a dull red orb as it first crept up over the horizon.

The plain waffle with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast, finishing the papers just after nine, the patio not crowded.

Set out for home under still overcast skies, lots of construction going on in the street and on stores that have been closed since the coronavirus arrived, the temperature warm, but not yet uncomfortable. Some of the usual flower pictures noting some of them have wilted and gone.

I'd passed the garage in the building at the base of my hill on the way to breakfast to find they'd painted a mural on the doors. Nice, liked that, and so a picture heading up the hill to take the selfie again in the lobby before settling down at the computer to finish yesterday's entry and begin here. They're still saying ninety degrees later with afternoon winds up in the fires. Another day staying inside.

Later. Air quality is now Unhealthy For Everyone and so we're hunkered down here inside for the rest of the day, not that it would have made a difference if the air was clear. These days anyway.

Evening. Stayed up to watch Vera at eight, as I couldn't think of anything else I wanted to do, having had my fill of the tablet and skimming through the New Yorker that arrived in the mail today.

Skimmed?

Well, checked the table of contents and skimmed the cartoons. Anyone think the cartoons aren't nearly as humorous as they were in decades past? Just me?

I'd seen this episode of Vera before, recalling scenes as they appeared. Went to bed before ten to hear the president and first lady had tested positive for CORONA virus. Seems I'll be following the news tomorrow to see how this unfolds with more attention than usual.

The photo up top was taken at the 2018 San Francisco LGBTQ Pride Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
