Dinner

Thursday. A long day of watching this and that on the tablet seems to have resulted in lights out early and then awakening at six-fifteen this morning, just as I'd like. So off to breakfast a little later on a cold (for California) morning with the sun coming up over the hills, the clouds a light pink. Didn't take a picture, didn't really work at finding a picture along the way. It was cold, my eyes were watering and I was looking to arrive and get inside.

The chicken-apple sausage, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast. No particular rationalization for the choice, just did it. Seems to have worked out as the head is still clear with nothing more than the sinuses jabbing at me in the background. No complaints.

The walk home with the 31mm lens on the camera. The 30-110mm zoom allows for better framing, but the 31mm is sharper and (most of the time) takes a decent picture. Ninety percent of any picture is the lens. I made that up - ninety percent - but if not true, it's in the right direction. And so took more pictures than I usually do while walking. Seems to keep me entertained.

Later. We get most of our rain here in December and January and they were saying in the papers this morning there's no rain on the horizon for at least the next two weeks. A television weather report heard later said we might get a sprinkle or two by the beginning of next week, but no real accumulation, the atmospheric configuration looking much as it did during the drought, a high sitting here keeping lows to the northwest. Hmm. Disturbing. The reservoirs are in good shape, but for the now and not for the future, if the rains don't arrive.

Otherwise sitting around doing little to nothing. Watching the news now since it started at two. Nothing particularly uplifting to hear, but it seems to keep our attention. The fact they're saying they might get this “tax cut” bill through Congress is depressing.

You're the one listening to the stuff.

Old habit. Had it since I can remember.

Evening. Settled down on the bed with the tablet before watching Democracy Now! straight through, the commentary on the Trump anti-Muslim tweets and the comments by Joseph Stieglitz well worth hearing twice. Nothing on television later and so I suspect we're headed for bed again after having pasta and red clam sauce for dinner.

The photo up top was taken while walking home from breakfast one year ago in October with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 135mm f 2.0 DC Nikkor lens.
