Here In Oakland

Art & Life

May 7, 2017

Required

Sunday. I did skip out on Show Boat last night after listening to Ol' Man River and had the lights out before ten. Or maybe at ten. Awake at six to pull all three newspapers together and drive to breakfast on another sunny morning, arriving at the usual time to find the restaurant closed and so waited (along with two others outside on the sidewalk) for the first waitress to arrive. A little different start to a morning, but nothing to fret about.

The How Weird Street Faire starts at noon today. For this one there's no question we'll be going.

Learn from experience. How many times have you said that and then crapped out?

Later. A bus to BART and then the Montgomery Street Station for a two block walk to the Faire, arriving at twelve-thirty and spending an hour and a half shooting. Should have arrived later. There were quite a few people when I arrived, but many more were still streaming in as I was leaving. A mistake I've made over and over in the past. More people means more opportunities for pictures.

Are we now going into your “I don't know if I like them” routine?

No. Tired and warm and so back to BART to Oakland and then a walk home, picking up a grilled chicken sandwich on the way to take home. So a good outing with enough pictures for a web section, possibly two. If I hold my nose just a little....

Evening. Processed pictures. Grew tired of processing pictures. Watched the two late Sunday afternoon episodes of Elementary, again from what I believe was its first season, both of which I've seen before and neither of which I found particularly compelling. A good enough excuse to wrap up the photo session, at least. Use what's available when excuses seemingly are required.

The photo up top was taken Saturday at the Oakland Climate March at Lake Merritt with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
