Eight

Friday. Awoke at four, blinked and awoke at five, closed the eyes and awoke at six. Now if I could find a way to get to sleep in the evenings as fast.... Well, up at six to check the weather and find it raining and so drove to breakfast to arrive before seven and find the restaurant open and well underway.

The two strips of bacon, scrambled eggs, country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee, finishing up by a quarter to nine. Still raining on the drive home, a dentist's appointment today at noon on my mind. I only hear about, rather than experience, the traffic in the area, but today I'm going to find out what it's like on a late morning Friday. Should be OK. I think. Hope.

Just leave earlier if you're worried.

And sit in a dentist's office for half an hour if there's no traffic?

Life has its little ups and downs.

Later. A drive to the dentist's office at eleven-fifteen to find heavy traffic, but moving well enough to arrive fifteen minutes before noon. OK, not so bad, although the dental technician wasn't ready until fifteen after twelve, something I was expecting from prior experience. So good, a clear bill of (dental) health, the teeth cleaned, x-rays taken, a drive straight back home, but stopping by the 7-11 look-alike to pick up bean dip and a bag of nacho cheese Doritos for lunch. A simple enough task, all of this, but with the usual periods of dread before setting out. Seems to be the norm anymore and so a little comfort food seems to help.

Evening. Watched the first hour of a German detective program, Homicide Unit Istanbul – The Bosporus Broker to find it interesting enough, but bailed for bed before finding out who'd done the dirty deed. I was indeed curious, but tired. Not a bad day tired, just tired enough to settle in, turn on the radio and listen to the first thirty minutes of the BBC News that started at eight.

The photo up top was taken at the 2018 San Francisco Chinese New Year Parade with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
