Weekend

Friday. Lights out at a decent hour to awaken then at six thirty-five. OK, a decent night's sleep. Felt better to the point of being surprised by it while I was getting up, the head clear, the attitude really not bad at all was the thought. My, my. Seems this last week has been even worse than I imagined. Had I been getting over that stomach ailment for the week and not just the two or three days it seemed to be active? Now if I can just keep this going for a while....

I thought I remembered they'd been forecasting rain this morning and so was surprised to find it clear and so off walking to breakfast, the eyes watering, but the pace good. No complaints. Looks to be a good day ahead.

The French toast with sliced bananas and strawberries, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast for no particular reason. One forty-nine on the scale this morning if that had any influence on it. Read the papers with more then the usual interest, perhaps because things seemed to be clicking along for me? Deedle-dee-dee? Could be.

Bright sun walking home and so took the usual pictures as well as a couple of others that for some reason caught my interest. Again, because I was in a better mood?

I'd passed by what I thought was a young man sleeping under the 580 overpass while walking to breakfast, seeing him lying there without anything to insulate him from the cold pavement and just his coat for a blanket. Walking home I broke a rule and took a couple of pictures. Given the temperature, given the lack of warm enough clothing, I wondered for more than a moment if he might be dead. Not things you want to wonder while walking warm and well fed. Had that shoe been off his foot earlier when I first passed?

Later. A bath and then a walk to the bus stop to catch the bus to the ATM on Broadway, the bus managing to arrive at the stop fifteen minutes late. Ah, well. To the ATM and then around thinking for all my b.s. about my being clear headed and the rest that out here I was still in my usual bubble and so skipped the idea of taking pictures at the two apartment construction sites and ended up walking home, the return bus that passed me by as I was walking also running some ten minutes late.

Stopped by the burger drive-in and picked up a grilled chicken sandwich to take home for lunch. Haven't done that now in months. Tasted good. No regrets. I'd been thinking about my head in a bubble walk, though. Maybe start walking in the afternoons now that they're saying the weather is going to be sunny for the coming week? After the storm we're due to have this evening and through the night? Might.

And this marks - what? - the hundredth time you've said this without the faintest thought of following through?

I've eventually gotta do something. Feeling better now, probably would have felt better on the ATM trip if I'd been in better shape. Took a couple of pictures at Harrison and Grand, digging the camera out of the backpack. Quite a few people walking and running. I could do that. The walking half.

Evening. Stayed up long enough to watch some of the Inspector Gently episode at eight after a decent afternoon and evening. Tomorrow a March For Our Lives that starts at ten in downtown Oakland and then Sunday the Oakland Marathon. Some pictures in the offing this weekend.

Last year's Saint Patrick's Day Parade taken with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
