Life Can Be Complex
I contacted the state Board of Equalization today (sales tax) about a lien they'd put against me some years back, that I had paid off some years back , but was still shown as a lien against my credit report. I had no illusions about clearing this up any time soon. I assumed it would take weeks. I faxed the request and the required information to them this morning and received everything I needed to take care of the lien in two hours. I was, briefly, in shock. This basically takes care of the last hurdle to my getting the new apartment. I was told it was mine, but not until August 1st and maybe a little later. I can live with that.

Yesterday I talked about ennui and today, after a pretty good night's sleep, I'm thinking vacuum the rugs. I don't think vacuum the rugs unless I'm Received in an email today. tight, bright and ready to rock. I am ready to rock. I have delivered the laundry and it will be ready tomorrow. I have cleaned the magazines and books out of the bedroom and seen the bedroom floor. I have talked with the current landlord about moving at the end of July and he has talked about putting off the anti-ant campaign until after. Other things happened today that I cannot tell you about, but they are good. Last night I am tired and moaning and groaning and today I am feeling fine, thank you. Maybe I'd better talk to my doctor about anti-depressants. This up and down bit is weird. I am a mature adult of experience. I shouldn't be bouncing off the walls one day and hiding under the covers the next*, although I've never read a book of rules on the subject. (*There is a slight exaggeration here, but I do occasionally think my method of living makes a case for crazier than batshit.)

We had lunch today at what we call the "cheap Chinese" place. This is no ethnic slur, this is a place where you can eat lunch for $4.00, $3.00 if you have one of their cards allowing a 25% discount. This isn't a buffet arrangement, each meal is individually cooked and served by a waitress who appears to want your business. How do they live charging $3.00 and $4.00 for lunch? I don't think they do. They are sleeping on the kitchen floor and bathing in the double sinks. And I, foul scoundrel that I am, am taking advantage of this. Tomorrow. They gave me one of their 25% discount cards. Of course it's possible that they don't sleep on the kitchen floor and they make their money because the food doesn't cost them much, what with it coming from the cat rendering plant down the street (Cut to shape and painted with the finest almost real life colors. Do you trust your butcher? Meow.). Life can be complex.

The banner photograph was taken at the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco. I riffled through my entries of that period to see if I'd run it before, but couldn't find it. Still, I have this feeling.... The keyboard came attached to an email going around the office today. I want one too.
