Coming Weekend

Friday. I did skip Inspector Lewis, or at least had it running in the background as I put together another section of Latham Square photographs. Interesting to look at the difference in comparing the Latham Square photographs taken as they were originally building the thing and those I've taken of the Broadway-Telegraph street construction, the former focusing on people's expressions and the latter on scattered bulldozers and trucks. I need to do something completely different in my approach to bulldozers and trucks.

OK, skipped Lewis, but did watch Vera, following along interpreting their accents as best I was able. Watched it straight through to eleven (the Elementary at ten was another repeat) before going to bed, but got to sleep pretty quickly, awake a good hour plus before the alarm. Awake and clear headed. And all three papers arrived on time.

A walk under clear skies to breakfast and back, a picture along the way, a picture coming back. Two pictures coming back. The café owner mentioned the power company is going to raise electricity rates between something like noon and six to discourage consumption. Hadn't heard anything about that before, not sure it's something to think about, but it's going to be warm today and for the rest of the week.

Later. An hour's nap and then up to talk myself into going downtown to take the usual set of Latham Square pictures and see how much progress they've made on the Cathedral building mural. Which I did. Sunny and so out the door in a t-shirt and broad brimmed hat, first time in a while for the hat. Took the pictures and then caught the bus back to the Coffee With A Beat stop to have a tuna fish sandwich and coffee. I believe I've mentioned their tuna fish sandwiches.

A walk around the corner to the 7-11 look-alike for an ice cream bar (dessert) and then on to the apartment house construction site for more photographs, ambivalent about the results. The photo attitude and outlook has been better today, so we'll keep it at that.

Another nap? Who knows? Give it a try. Not up for processing today's pictures yet and there's a demonstration later at six at the Highway 580 exit at Lakeshore and Lake Side. I may go and take pictures, it's close enough by to make it hard to talk myself out of it. Compromise if need be by taking one rather than two cameras. Light weight, easy to maneuver, makes the outing easy. He said.

Later still. A slow late afternoon listening to the news, trying to watch something or other on the tablet (I'm having more trouble coming up with things I'm willing to watch on the tablet) and thinking about this demonstration on Lakeview and Lake Shore where the “sleeping man”, Demouria Hogg, was shot to death in his car last Saturday. Still up in the air, but I'm feeling fit enough and hungry enough (maybe ice cream in the shop right next to where they will be assembling?).

Evening. A walk to Lakeshore and Lake Side with both cameras in tow to spend somewhat over an hour taking pictures. A couple of hundred people assembling in that hour and blocking traffic at the 580 off ramp where it feeds into the intersection once they'd formed, the crowd well behaved and well organized. And so pictures, enough for a section, almost two sections for the web.

Back by seven in time to watch New Tricks, one I've seen before, and then to start processing photographs. I'd not come close to finishing this morning's photographs earlier and, I suspect, I'll be working on them through the coming weekend.

The photo up top was taken at the San Francisco 2015 Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
