Long Forgotten

Wednesday. And so indeed to bed early, lights out early and sleeping straight through until just before the alarm, getting up to the usual routine and heading out for breakfast, all three papers in tow this time. Good. Delivery problems resolved.

A mix of sun and dissipating fog that looks as if we'll have another warm and sunny day ahead. We haven't started this morning chirping along like an idiot as we did flying along yesterday, but maybe a quick nap and the rest of this day will roll out for the best.

Later. A nap. The sleep seems to have done the trick and so up and out the door to catch a downtown bus to check out the construction progress on Broadway at Latham Square. It was the twelve noon bus, not the best timing if you want to see construction work in progress, but such is life and lunch. I figure getting downtown at all an accomplishment. So pictures, of course. They'd put up a fence surrounding the construction area since yesterday's visit, but that doesn't really get in the way unless you let it.

A break to walk over to the City Center for a cinnamon bun and coffee at the bagel shop to find a Beatles cover band playing to a large crowd at the Wednesday noon hour concert. Surprised me. They were good. They weren't the Beatles, obviously, but they played the songs in a way that reminded me how those songs sounded way back when. You're walking along and suddenly you're surprised by a sound track from your past. Hmm. So I ate my cinnamon bun, drank my coffee and listened. To the Beatles. In Oakland. At noon.

A bus back to the 7-11 look-alike for an ice cream bar and then on to take a set of pictures at the apartment house construction site. Sounds familiar, does it not? Pictures downtown? Pictures at the apartment site? A cinnamon bun and coffee in the City Center? Are we in a rut?

Of course.

Of course. Still, a better day than many we've had in our little routine. Nothing wrong with that.

Evening. Worked on the photographs with some intervening sessions on the tablet through the rest of the afternoon and then watched the first half of Democracy Now before turning everything off and going to bed. Tired, but again, the good kind of tired where you know you'll have no trouble getting to sleep. A mixed day today, but not a bad day when you're pleased and surprised by some old songs you thought you'd long forgotten.

The photo up top was taken at the San Francisco 2015 Carnaval Parade with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
