Early Again Tonight
Thursday. I did get to bed before ten last night, but then spent a restless night waking up two or three times (gotta drink less water late in the day and through the evenings, I guess), turning off the alarm when it went off and sleeping in until eight. And I'm feeling tired for however number of hours I got last night after returning from breakfast on this sunny morning. I said something about “jinxing” it yesterday when I mentioned I hadn't needed a nap in a while, so maybe I knew even then something was afoot. A foot in my mouth.

So anyway, what the hell? I'd walked to breakfast to avoid feeding the meter, something I should probably do more often now that it's light so early. Lots to read in the papers, none of which I remember at the moment, but useful stuff to know, no doubt. My guitar lesson is coming up at noon. Time for a run through the lesson, but after a short time lying down and closing the eyes for a bit. I won't fall asleep and miss my lesson, of course. I'm quite sure about that.

Later. I did lie down for about an hour. No real chance of falling asleep, but down, eyes shut, letting the body slow to a crawl, floating along, up then to drive to the lesson, no doglegs to the supermarket on the way back, although I was hungry even after eating an unusually large breakfast.

A decent lesson, by the way. I did have that release bend down cold. Less so the nice Chuck Berry rhythm riffs we've been practicing, but we are making progress. The barre chords are starting to sound like actual music and they allow you to, well, rock out. Sounding good. We'll leave it at that, but sounding good is good, let me tell you.

Later still. Another hour lying down, none of which seems to help, so up to take a bus downtown for something to eat. A large breakfast this morning as mentioned, but it doesn't seem to have lasted. The head still a bit fried, even out in the outdoor air, but a decent crepe at a table in the City Center before returning on the bus to pick up an ice cream cone at the 7-11 look-alike on the way home. Then another hour lying down. How many does that make? When's the last time this has happened?

Better now, but only marginally better. Not sure why or where this is coming from, but we'll just go with it, lie down when we want and get on with the new guitar lesson if we're able before getting to bed early again tonight.
