Willing To Bet
Thursday. To bed again early to get up without particular effort with the alarm. The weight a pound under target, so good. Off to breakfast and back on (another) soon to be sunny morning noting that gas prices had dropped by two cents, the first change since last month. Pretty exciting for a Thursday morning around this place.

Home to turn on the computer and see the external mirrored drive that holds the journal and photographs for the year take forever to come up and then sit there with its warning light flashing blue and red, blue and red. Not good were the first, second and third thoughts. A check on the drive's web site to see what that means. Blue and red alternating like a traffic sign: “RAID synchronizing; wait until finished”. Oh. That sounds OK. And indeed it was (and it did).

A haircut later this morning at ten. We're due for a haircut, it's getting out of hand. So good. Again. More “goods”. The day starts with promise.

Later. Nice day. Early and cool enough at nine-thirty to be comfortably wearing a sweater and a light weight jacket to bus to the Broadway ATM and then to walk on to the City Center, still not too warm wearing them sitting on the bus as I was coming back, but warm enough outside by then that I wouldn't want to have been walking. Later we'll head out in just a long sleeved shirt, take advantage of this drought.

Bought a package of AAA batteries, got the haircut, had coffee and a cookie out at a table at the bagel shop and then came back home on the bus. It's close to noon. What to do? Don't know, but we will soon.

Later still. I now have a new working garbage disposal unit sitting under the sink. I'd probably be even happier if I used it much, but still, good. They said the old one was made sometime at the turn of the century, the 19th-20th century, which seemed to amuse them. I'd cleaned up the cabinet under the sink of its various bottles, spray cans and such before they arrived so the kitchen is now looking better than it has in a while. Embarrassed to say this? No, appreciative of the difference.

I was hungry by then and so a walk over to the burger drive-in to pick up a steak sandwich to bring home for a late lunch. Again, a nice day, sunny, spring and fall weather as it rarely ever gets this warm in the summer. (I'm exaggerating, but not by much.)

Another picture of the new apartment construction area from the bottom of my street on my way back. I'm sure the apartments sitting up on the hill behind them are looking forward to it blocking their view. Doodle-dee-do. City life.

Evening. Two Inspector Lewis episodes this evening at eight and then again at nine-thirty, the Elementary this evening at ten is a repeat. So we'll be up until after ten I'd be willing to bet.

The photo up top was taken Sunday at the Oakland Lunar New Year Bazaar with a Nikon D4 mounted with an 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
