A photo shoot in Emeryville

January 5th, 2006

No Complaints
Monday. I suggested in an email to a friend that many things I've been wrestling with these last years should be resolved sometime between now and April, writing this with absolute certainty. I distrust absolute certainty, it leads to foreign wars and bad decisions. Still, life should be more transparent in another four months if only, perhaps, in showing me any prediction of this kind is hopeless.

Thursday. I ordered a new bedding set from Macy's last week. If you were to look at my by current composite you'd know I haven't bought any sheets or blankets and comforters for a very long time. Sheets, four pillow cases, a blanket and comforter, all color coordinated and coded and blended and nice. UPS left a tag saying they'd tried to deliver it this morning. The price, amazingly, is about the same price I paid thirty years ago during another Macy's winter White Sale, although I had to travel to the store to make the purchase. No price inflation in thirty years? A lesson, I guess, in what China is about. They don't make sheets and such in the US anymore, I know these things because I've read it in the papers. Not hard to see why. No complaints.

The photograph was taken at a studio session in Emeryville with a Nikon D2h mounted with a 28-70mm f 2.8 Nikkor lens at 1/6th second, f 3.2 and ISO 200.
