A going away lunch in Oakland

February 4, 2007

Mixed Up
Sunday. Super Bowl Sunday, my breakfast cafe pretty much empty this early morning as I sat eating crab cake Hollandaise and reading the paper. I'd thought momentarily of going to the office, something I've often done on a Sunday morning, but I left my office access card on the dresser deciding I'd fit in whatever I had to get done Monday morning with a little extra effort. I need the time here in the apartment: naps to take, entries to write, email to answer, photographs to manipulate, sake to warm, television to watch, hallucinations to facilitate.

Hallucinations to facilitate?

I can feel the energy building as this long flu riddled January fades, best to let it build uninterrupted by anything as crass as work. If that's not an hallucination I've gotten my mushrooms mixed up.

The photograph was taken at a going away lunch in Oakland with a Nikon D2X mounted with a 17-55mm f 2.8 Nikkor lens at 1/20th, f 2.8, ISO 500.
