Gay Rites, Gay Rights
I have this strange idea people will look at gay marriage and see the underlying equal rights issue no matter where they're coming from. Mr. Bush signed off today on a Constitutional Amendment to deny marriage rights to gays. I think that's a blunder. But then I give myself a sharp slap and remind myself people said these same things about slavery when it was challenged - "been around since the beginnings of time", "it violates community standards", "separate but equal", "sit in the back of the bus", "go back in the closet" - and I realize I'm probably living in Wonderland. Speaking of which:

You're Alice's Adventures in Wonderland!
by Lewis Carroll
Alice In Wonderland After stumbling down the wrong turn in life, you've had your mind opened to a number of strange and curious things. As life grows curiouser and curiouser, you have to ask yourself what's real and what's the picture of illusion. Little is coming to your aid in discerning fantasy from fact, but the line between them is so blurry that it's starting not to matter. Be careful around rabbit holes and those who smile too much, and just avoid hat shops altogether.

Take the Book Quiz at the Blue Pyramid.

These people have a great promotional idea, although I have no idea what they do with the information they generate from people who take their test or run their code as I've done above. How can you resist being linked to Alice in Wonderland? Cute kid, Alice. Would be nice to meet her when she's put on another forty or more years.

The cartoon appears in this week's issue of The New Yorker and I've used it without permission. Mind the copyright notice. I hope they make allowances for subscribers.
