Ten

Thursday. An ocular migraine does put you right to sleep and so lights out before nine to awaken at six, feeling pretty good and clear headed. Just like that. Up on a cold and clear morning to walk to breakfast, the eyes watering and the nose dripping as it and they are won't to do now in the mornings. What the hell? Minor problem.

A mushroom and avocado omelet (ordered it without cheese, although some showed up in the center), country potatoes, toast, fruit cup and coffee for breakfast over the papers for two hours, walking home then under what was now (or at least seemed to me to be) a warm sun, taking the usual (some of them fuzzy) pictures and then noting the broken car window glass in the parking lot at the base of my hill.

Am I just more aware of this stuff because I'm walking to breakfast in the mornings and following along on the local NextDoor app where people note these things, broken into cars and people stopped and robbed on the streets? Or are people more desperate out there in this weird economy where renting a single room can cost more than what I pay for my entire apartment?

Well, OK, enough of that. This is one of my, what? Three recurring themes?

Again, nice clear day, nice clear head, let's see if they last. I'd bet on the day in a minute, would hesitate on betting on the head. But we can hope, can we not, on this sunny day here in Oakland?

Later. A couple of hours of the wobbly thing kicked in this late morning, but took a walk over to the lake snapping but a single picture to then sit on a bench before finally deciding to return to the apartment.

The thought had been to head over to the Lakeshore ATM and back with the camera in hand, but decided against it. I'm going to have to start taking the camera in the backpack to wherever it is I'm planning on shooting - an event, a festival, a construction site - and stop carrying one everywhere else I may go. It's a habit. I can break a habit, right?

You don't much go anywhere as it is.

Well, then, it will probably work out just fine.

Feel better, though, the wobbly stuff now gone after a couple of hours. Remembered I'd had a macaroni in a cheese sauce dish heated in the microwave yesterday, having had them in the past. Cheese sauce is undoubtedly on the forbidden list and maybe that's what kicked in last night. And now wobbly for a while after having another one earlier for lunch. Who knows? We go round and round with no end in sight.

Evening. An interesting Democracy Now! that was worth watching again, after listening to much of it this morning, some time with the tablet and then the Inspector Lynley Mysteries that started at eight. I've not been overly fond of the Lynley series in the past, but watched this one through, a less comfortable to watch (for me) exercise in beat up the competent female detective sergeant from beginning to end story line. Which is one reason I've tended to avoid this series in the past. Managed to keep me up until after ten.

The photograph was taken at the Oakland 2009 Children's Day Parade with a Nikon D3s mounted with an 70 - 200mm f 2.8 Nikkor VR II lens at f 2.8 at 1/200th second, ISO 200.
