Hope

Sunday. Lights out not long after nine to then awaken at a quarter after six. Just right. Spin the dial and every now and then the wheel alights on your number.

Up to drive to breakfast on another sunny morning, the car starting pretty much as it should, but we do need to charge the damned battery pretty soon. Another Honda Element was parked next to mine in the garage, the young woman I'd run into in front of the building recently having mentioned she'd bought a used one. Red. Two Elements now out of the thirteen that are parked in the garage.

Which means in the grand scheme of things?

There are two Elements parked in the building garage.

Had the two strips of bacon, eggs over medium, country potatoes, toast and coffee for breakfast, the young woman who opened the restaurant this morning not bringing the mixed fruit cup as she was new and unaware they've been giving me one now on the house for these last several years. No complaints, it's a gesture for my patronage they've been doing now for so long I suspect they don't feel they can stop, but it is a gift and I can't and certainly won't complain. May have to add more fruit on my own if this continues in order to balance the diet.

Anyway, read the papers, ate the breakfast, took the picture, the car starting without complaint. On home on another sunny winter Sunday in Oakland.

Later. Continued working on last week's city worker strike pictures, making progress on two sections while listening to and occasionally getting up to watch the 49'ers game, finally getting my act together to head over to the lake (body cam working) to take a couple of pictures, coming across a couple working with a soccer ball. Working very expertly with a soccer ball, the woman handling it with real skill, the man even better. How long have they been practicing? Soccer players? Just something they chose as a hobby? Should have taken more better pictures.

OK, sat for a while before returning to the apartment. The vision good, certainly better than yesterday's, but no desire to venture farther, no interest in anything nearby to pick up for lunch. Still, not a bad day, not a bad outing with half an afternoon left to play.

Evening. Finished the photographs and created most of the web pages for the city workers strike sections before crapping out. We'll finish and post tomorrow. I'm pretty sure. Mostly. Otherwise watched the first episode of Elementary, but bailed on the second and settled down with the tablet. Maybe even I will give up on old Elementary episodes. One can only hope.

The photo up top was taken Friday of the city workers strike at the Oakland City Hall with a Nikon D4s mounted with a 24-120mm f 4.0 VR Nikkor lens.
