Drought
Sunday. Took a little longer to get to sleep last night, but not that much longer. Awoke a couple of times during the night to get up and take a leak (drank too many liquids yesterday, knew it would be a problem), but still, awoke at six-fifteen after not a bad night's rest.
Up to drive to the Lakeshore ATM before heading back over the hill to the restaurant to park right in front, enter the indoor dining area and settle in at my usual table, papers in hand. So far, so good. A fair number of people arrived later and ate out on the patio, two other tables were taken by diners inside.
Oatmeal, toast and coffee this time, the weight still giving me problems on the scale in the mornings, finishing up by nine to walk to the car and drive straight home, taking the selfie in the lobby and settling in at the computer. So far not the tiredness I'd experienced (and was a little freaked about) yesterday. Let's hope that holds.
Later. All the news people have been talking a little breathlessly about the rain due to arrive this morning and it seems to have arrived, but early this afternoon. Not much, they were saying a tenth to a quarter of an inch, but we're in a drought and any water at all is much appreciated.
Rained until around two and now it's clear, the pigeons huddled against the mid-fifties high, cold here inside and so wearing a winter coat with the heat turned on. That should warm things up in a bit. Otherwise watched the Zurich Classic golf tournament on CBS, no desire to lie down probably until later and so yesterday's tiredness I bitched so much about is not in evidence.
Evening. They evidently did get a quarter to half an inch of rain north of here in Marin, but we got less than a tenth of an inch in Oakland with none projected to come in the days ahead so we're still essentially in and looking at a serious summer drought.
