Photographs

Saturday. Nothing on the tablet I wanted to watch and so lights out before ten to awaken then at five-thirty. Too early, but when you're awake, you're awake. Mostly. Listened to the radio for a while before getting up and getting out the door at a decent time, the East Bay Times having arrived for once in some time.

Lighter out now as we get further into spring, the sun coming up over the horizon, but chilly, the eyes watering in the cold. I'm not sure if they'd be watering to the same degree if I were younger, but I don't recall doing much walking in what I'm calling cold weather when I was younger and so we don't really know.

The oatmeal, toast, fruit cup and coffee again for breakfast, taking my time, walking then back to take the same mindless series of pictures. Not really complaining, just noting the fact it seems to work. Even if there's some complaining here (more surprise. I'm guessing, than complaining) it still seems to keep me entertained.

Anyway: nice day. We'll probably head over to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown to see if we can't cobble together enough pictures to combine with last weekend's outing to complete a web section. They're saying rain tomorrow morning for the Cherry Blossom Parade. Not a lot of rain and I may go, but I'm guessing the chances are slim and if we're going to get any photography in, we'd better get it in today.

Later. Some days you catch the bus and some days the bus catches you. The NextBus app said one was due in ten minutes so out the door with the two cameras, as usual the one with the long lens in the backpack, to then stand and wait for what became thirty minutes. So I decided to head back to the apartment, lose the camera in the backpack and take just one (lighter) camera this time with the smaller 24-120mm lens. Thoughts of throwing in the towel.

A bus arrived. Went by the Broadway ATM and then walked on to the station of meet a train just as it arrived and then debated through the entire trip whether I wanted to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japantown or to the Tax March scheduled to start at one in front of the San Francisco City Hall. Finally went for the festival and spent over an hour shooting pictures. Like pulling teeth today, finding those pictures. Did I get enough to fill out that section? Yes, but I will hold my nose when including some of them. Or maybe not do it at all.

Tired at the moment, tired as I was last weekend, the eyes taking longer than they should to come in focus. Not wobbly, but it tends to wear you down. Put you off. Wish you weren't running around taking pictures and so talked you back to BART and then on to Oakland where I sat for close to an hour for a bus to come. Same problem I'd had setting out. Two buses that didn't come and I waited for both.

Evening. Less tired now, but should still get a good night's sleep tonight. Nothing on television and I'm not up for tracking something down to watch on the tablet. All in all a good day if you don't count the late buses and lack of decent photographs.

The photo up top was taken at Sunday's San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival with a Nikon D5 mounted with a 70-200mm f 2.8 VR II Nikkor lens.
