Under Construction

San Francisco Cherry Blossom Parade

April 30th, 2006

Bed Pretty Soon
Sunday. I photographed the wedding yesterday. Many months ago I said no more weddings, but somehow I committed to this one, thinking well, the end of April is a long time away even though it arrived yesterday in what seems to have been like a shot, and, although it seems to have gone reasonably well, it was one long day. I arrived at the bride's family home at six-thirty in the morning to photograph the bride and the bride's maids preparing first for the tea ceremony at the house and then across the street at the newlywed's new house for the second half of the tea ceremony with the groom's family; then to a Catholic wedding ceremony in a church located near by; then a traditional Chinese wedding dinner that started at four and went on til ten. Well, nine-thirty. I pooped out early.

Fifteen hours shooting. The morning produced the best pictures, being fresh and in a place where they wanted me to photograph attractive women; the church was pretty much a series of group shots done in front of the altar after the ceremony and then another series of group shots at the dinner party with candids slipped in between. Best to have been less tired for those candids in between, but such is life. Sixteen hundred photographs. Running in the fast lane, but with a wobbly tire. Oh, and yes. I'm not shooting any more weddings. None. No more. Not.

Yeah?

Not with my head in this condition. Otherwise this has been a warm t-shirt weather day, breakfast at the usual place, laundry and a nap in the morning, a nap after noon, a nap before bed and bed, well, bed pretty soon.

The photograph was taken at the San Francisco Cherry Blossom parade with a Nikon D2x mounted with a 70-200mm 2.8 Nikkor VR lens at 1/750th second, f 2.8, ISO 100.
