Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley
May 23rd, 1999

Miscellaneous Sunday
This is not going to be an ambitious entry. I finished out a roll of black and white film using the new backdrop and a single strobe and I'll have the film developed tomorrow. The first roll will put a stake in the ground and the next session will build on that. Maybe I'll have it done next week, maybe I won't. For some reason this takes more energy than it should.

I should get a call from the rental agent tomorrow and get a Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley feeling about how long it's been taking them recently to find what I'm looking for in the Oakland area. Maybe I'm dreaming, but I'd like to give notice next weekend and get on with it. The new owners have been moving into the front house. They didn't mention the dog. Nice dog, older, probably won't scarf down Mr. Wuss, but Mr. Wuss will have to realign his reality to include a new player on his turf, at least for a while. As will I. I bitch and moan, but moving must be a way bigger jolt for a cat that weighs 11 pounds and has to worry about things I don't even see. When he came here three years ago, he hid in the closet for a week.

I didn't get to Solano Avenue to see the photographs. Next weekend. It's running all month.

The banner photograph was taken on Telegraph Avenue at a street fair last fall. As was the suit of armor. If you've ever been there you've seen them.
